Workforce

Four major, local initiatives help develop the workforce in Hickman County.

  • The K12 school system. The Career/Technical Department provides extensive opportunity for local students to prepare for positions in local retail and industry. 
  • The Career Center. The South Central Workforce Alliance provides career counseling, training, and job placement for many local businesses and industry in the area.
  • Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology. Schools are located in Dickson and Hohenwald, Tn, easily servicing students from Hickman County.
  • Columbia State Community College. This expanding, rapidly growing college provides main college-level classes in Columbia with branch campuses and classes in many local communities and high schools throughout the region.

The Hickman County Labor Shed is composed of 8 counties: Hickman, Cheatham, Dickson, Humphreys, Lewis, Maury ,Perry, and Williamson.
